McGinn pipped in Pro-Am
The tournament went ahead despite the flooding
of the 1st three holes on Tuesday night after a
monumental effort from Graham Lapwood and his
staff to remove the water from the 3rd fairway.
As it was, preferred lies were played through
the green on those 3 holes, other than that the
course was in excellent condition. The team
competition was won for the 2nd year running by
the Response sponsored team represented by John
Weeks, Colin Hurley and Simon Thompson with a
score of 19 under par. The team professional
Finbar Madden won the pro individual event with
69 pipping Alan McGinn into 2nd place,
which was all the more disappointing as they
were the 3rd from last group to come in. Mark
had 74 and James 78. But in such warm, sunny
weather all had a thoroughly good day. |
